Message from the Vice Chancellor

Vice Chancellor
Vice Chancellor
University of Sargodha held its Fifth convocation on March 29, which was my first as Vice Chancellor of the university. Our worthy Chancellor, Governor Punjab Mr Muhammad Rafique Rajwana was the Chief Guest on that auspicious occasion. In the convocation, 43 PhD graduates of 2014-16 session and 4259 other graduates of the sessions, 2009-13 and 2011-13 were awarded degrees. Position holders among them received medals, distinction certificates and cash prizes on the occasion. I congratulate all of them, as I deeply share their joy and happiness of their parents and teachers. The graduation ceremony is a dream-come-true moment in the life of any graduating student. In my opinion, the purpose of life for our young souls should be to make a difference as individuals in their respective professions of choice or in any other personal or public roles. So, the degrees that graduates received at the convocation should not be treated as mere pieces of paper but certificates to successful careers ahead. In the limited time I have spent at University of Sargodha, I have come across amazing talent among our students. Therefore, I have no doubt that our graduates would provide appropriate services and skills to the stakeholders in business, commerce, arts, humanities, law, civil and military administration, agriculture, literature, languages, anthropology, philosophy, education, medical sciences and engineering. Our mode of teaching at University of Sargodha is not just confined to imparting knowledge, but we also teach our students the values we have learned from our parents and elders. We have just concluded our annual Spring Festival, providing our boys and girls with the opportunity to fully express their talents in sports and co-curricular activities. For I honestly believe that this is the best way to prevent our youth from becoming a victim of extremist narratives and, instead, be the leaders of a progressive, tolerant and inclusive Pakistan that our Founding Father had envisaged for us on the eve of Independence. I am relatively new to this university and have great plans for improving its academic standing in Pakistan and the world – which I shall progressively unveil and implement. Together we shall take University of Sargodha to the next level of professional excellence. Let me once again congratulate our bright graduates and felicitate their proud parents and teachers on that happy occasion [8] Vice  Chancellor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad Vice Chancellor
