PBTE is Corporate body established, Under an Act called Punjab Board of Technical Education (Amendment) Act 1971 to Control, Develop and Regulate Technical, Commerce & Vocational Education in the Province of Punjab.Punjab Board of Technical Education came into being in accordance with the decree No. 2 in 1971 by Punjab government [1] Punjab Government  This frame control, advance and calibration of technical, commercial and professional education, as well as trade and skills courses to diploma level in Punjab. It set to succeed West Pakistan Board of Technical Education and established in 1962. The aim of this board is to provide standardized and reliable assessment and certification TEVTA below degree level within the region of Punjab, and such other areas as may be notified by the Government. We look forward to expanding our core and related services for all stakeholders through standardized and effective quality management system.

PBTE is announcing modern teaching and assessment methods to increase the standard of education. Many students are enrolled different Diplomas like: Diploma of Associate Engineering, Diploma of Dress Making and Dress Designing, Diploma of Commerce, and Diploma of Hotel Operation through this board. Punjab Board of Technical Education conducted the exams of these disciplines in December and now it has declared the date for the declaration of PBTE Result 2017 which is March. After passing these Diplomas students can continue further education.

Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) is a post-secondary program instruction in Applied Technologies. It includes 3 years regular studies. After completion of junior engineer diploma (DAE), of course, students can either continue further engineering surveys (BE, B.Tech) or get hired as supervisors, foremen, engineers, Shift engineers, sub- engineers, Auto Engineers, Agricultural overseers, chemical or gas plant operators, farm managers, junior instructors, workshop superintendents, etc.[2]PBTE ilmduniya.com

The Punjab Board of Technical Education came into existence under the Punjab Ordinance No. II of 1971 by the Government of the Punjab which was further amended by the Act of Punjab Assembly called "Punjab Board of Technical Education (Amendment) Act 1977". It is a corporate body to control, develop and regulate Technical, Commercial and Vocational Education as well as Trade and Skill courses upto Diploma level in the Province of Punjab. It was set up as a successor to the West Pakistan Board of Technical Education, which was constituted in the year 1962.

Jurisdiction of the PBTE

Within the territorial limits of the Province of Punjab and such other areas as may be notified by the Government from time to time.

Powers and responsibilities are briefly described below

  1. To accord, refuse or withdraw recognition wholly or partly after considering inspection reports received from an Inspection Committee appointed by the Board in this behalf.
  2. To hold and conduct all final examinations pertaining to Technical, Commercial and Vocational education below degree level and such other examination as may be determined by the Government.
  3. To grant Certificates and Diplomas to persons who have passed its examinations.
  4. To regulate and decide all administrative matters, including the creation and abolition of posts; provided that it shall be lawful for the Chairman to create temporary posts for a period not exceeding six months.[3] Punjab Board

Governance

Ex officio positions include the chairperson (the honourable minister for technical education) and the secretary (the joint director of the DPI). Members of the board included representatives of universities, industry bodies, the pharmacy council of India, the institution of engineers and the principles of selected polytechnic colleges.

Functions

The board operates in conjunction with the department of technical education. (The department of technical education focuses on administrative and developmental aspects.) The board itself frames technical education policy.

Syllabi and teaching

The board reviews and revises syllabi for technical education institutions. (This includes syllabi for students in courses at an undergraduate level). The design of syllabi is done with the needs of industry and Indian society in general in mind. The board provides training for teachers and supervises the teaching of its syllabi. It provides teaching material and makes education material available to students.

Accreditation and assessment

The board inspects and accredits technical education institutions, conducts examinations and awards diplomas and certificates.[4] PBITE Accreditation and assessment

Government and other affiliations

The board advises government on the co-ordinated development of technical education below an undergraduate level. It manages funding schemes for technical education.
