Nishtar Institute of Dentistry History
Establishing a teaching hospital in Multan was the idea of Doctor M. J. Bhutta who forwarded it in the year of 1945. King Edward Medical College was the only medical college in Punjab and the ratio of Muslim students was very low. After 1947, when Pakistan came into being, a few Muslim doctors migrated to Pakistan which made hurdles for the new state.
So, Doctor Jamal Bhutta and Doctor Mallick forwarded the idea of establishing a teaching hospital to the government of Punjab. Sardar Abdur Rub Nishtar announced the establishment of a medical college and teaching hospital in order to strengthen the ratio of doctors in Pakistan.
The hard work of Dr, Bhutta, Syed Ismail Ali Shah, and Inamullah Shah resulted in the approval of the establishment plan and thus the foundation stone was laid by Sardar Abdur Rub Nishtar on April 28, 1951.
