Nehal Hashmi Biography
Nehal is a prominent name in the political field who started his career in the early 1990s by joining the Pakistan Muslim League N. Before joining politics; he has also practiced law and fought many crucial cases. He was known as ‘Mr. Petitioner’ because of filing various petitions on different social issues.
He got an opportunity to be Nawaz Sharif’s advisor on human rights and law justice in the 1990s. In 2017, for breaking the party’s rules, he was asked for the resignation from the Senate seat by Nawaz Sharif. However, after the meeting with the Senate Chairman, he withdrew the Senate membership.

He was born on 28th January 1960 in East Pakistan to an Urdu speaking family. Later, his family moved to Karachi.

In 1992 he became a part of Pakistan Muslim League N, and it is how his political career started. In 1997 he was made the advisor of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on human rights and law justice. He served on that post till 1999. Later, in 2012, he was made the PMLN president.
As a General Secretary
In August 2014, PMLN announced to him the General Secretary of the party in Sindh. In October 2014, he reappointed on this post.
2015 Senate Elections
He ran for the seat of the Senate Assembly in the 2015 Senate Elections on the party ticket of PMLN and luckily got the highest votes. During his tenure, he was given some crucial Ministries, including PM’s advisor on Law and justice.
Later, in 2017 he was asked to resign by Nawaz Sharif because of violating the party’s rules. However, after the meeting with the chairman Senate, he withdrew the membership.
On 1st Feb 2018, he was charged for disrespecting court and banned from holding any post for the next 5 years. He threatened the judges of the Supreme Court for the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif. Apart from that, his senate membership also ceased. Moreover, he was fined R.s 50,000. However, after 1 month he was released from jail.
