Hamid Yar hails from Multan is a Pakistani Politician who is associated with Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf since 2018 as a member of the Provincial Assembly after winning the Pakistan General Elections. Previously he served as Minister of State for Health while being attached to Pakistan Muslim League Q. He also holds the citizenship of Canada from where he received his high education.

He belongs to a political family background where his father Sardar Allah Yar Hiraj remained a member of the Provincial Assembly from 1985 to 1996 while one of his brother Muhammad Hiraj also functioned as a member of the Provincial Assembly from 2002-2013. His brother Ahmed Hiraj served as District Nazim from 2001 to 2009. He is married and is blessed with 3 Children.
Political Career
- He ran for the seat of the National Assembly as an Independent candidate in 2002 Pakistan General Elections from the Constituency NA-157 (Khanewal-II) and gave defeat to the member of Pakistan Muslim League N Rizwan Ahmad Khan Daha by securing 74,905 votes. In November 2002, he was accepted into the government bureau of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and was delegated as Minister of State for Health where he kept on serving until June 2004. In June 2004, he was enlisted into the bureaucratic bureau of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and was re-designated as Minister of State for Health until August 2004. In June 2004, he was appointed into the Federal Cabinet of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and was named as Minister of State for Commerce and Trade until November 2007, after which the administration’s residency was finished.
- In 2008 he again ran for the seat of the National Assembly after joining Pakistan Muslim League Q from the Constituency NA-157 (Khanewal-II) in 2008 Pakistan General Elections and gave defeat to his opponent Muhammad Khan Doha. On 22 November 2010, Hamid Yar was selected as a Federal Minister, Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani. He served at the post until the finish of the administration’s residency in March 2013.
- In 2013 Pakistan General Elections he again ran as a member of the National Assembly from the Constituency NA-157 (Khanewal-II) while being attached to the same party but unfortunately faced defeat.
