Firdous Ashiq Awan Biography

Firdous Aashiq is a senior and acknowledged Pakistani Politician who recently served as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan. Doctor Firdous Ashiq became a part of Politics in the 1990s when she started taking an interest in Social Work. At first, she stood by Pakistan Muslim League Q, but later she joined hands with Pakistan Peoples Party. • Aashiq Awan entered Politics in the 1990s when she established the Society for Development and Health and commended for upgrading the healthcare system. In 2002 Firdous officially gave a start to her political career and contested Pakistan General Elections on National Assembly Seat while being associated with Pakistan Muslim League Q. • In 2008 elections, she switched to Pakistan Peoples Party and again contested Pakistan General Elections from Constituency NA-111 Sialkot-II. Firdous gave defeat to Chaudhry Ameer, who was a member of PMLQ. Soon after taking an oath, she assigned as Population welfare Minister. After a few times, she preceded to Minister of Information and Broadcasting. In December 2011, Awan decided to gave resignation from this post, which wasn’t accepted by Yousaf Raza Gillani, and he succeeded in agreeing with Firdous to continue with the same post. In 2012 she assigned as Ministry of National Regulations and Services while her previous post was given to Qamar Zaman Kaira.

• In 2013 Firdous Aashiq again contested for the General Elections while being attached to the same party, but she faced defeat from PMLN member Chaudry Armaghan Subhan. However, she appointed as PPP’s Vice President. In 2017 she made her mind leave PPP and joined hands with Imran Khan.

• 2018 Elections again proved to be unlucky for her as she couldn’t be elected as a member of the National Assembly from  NA-72 Constituency (Sialkot I). However, on 18th April 2019, she assigned as Special Assistant of PM Imran Khan for the Information and Broadcasting. On 27th April 2020, she was replaced by Asim Bajwa on the order of Imran Khan.
