- Her political career started in 1965 when she stood with Fatima Jinnah fr the revival of democracy in Pakistan. She ran for the seat of the Provincial Assembly for the first time in 1977 Pakistan General Elections on a reserved seat for women and defeated her opponent. After completing her tenure she again elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly in 1985 Pakistan General Elections on reserved seat for women.
- She also served as the advisor to the Chief Minister from 1993 to 1996 and then again from 2009 to 2013. After 28 years she was re-elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly on a reserved seat for women in 2013 Pakistan General Elections while being affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League N. She hold the charge in June 2013 and was appointed as a Provincial Minister of Punjab for Population Welfare. In 2016 she was made Provincial Minister of Punjab for environment protection till 2018.
- In 2018 General Elections she is also chosen as a member of the Provincial Assembly on a reserved seat for women while being attached to the same party.
