Vision and Mission
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has made a policy decision to direct all Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to establish Quality Enhancement Cells (QEC). It has also issued Guidelines for the establishment and monitoring of QECs.
Maintaining the momentum of quality consciousness is crucial in HEIs. Quality Enhancement Cell, an internal quality assurance mechanism of the institution, is conceived as a mechanism to build and ensure a quality culture at the institutional level. Every HEI should have an quality assurance system, with appropriate structure and processes, and with enough flexibility to meet the diverse needs of the stakeholders. The QEC is meant for planning, guiding and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the Institute. The QEC may channelise and systematize the efforts and measures of an institution towards academic excellence. It should not be yet another hierarchical structure or record-keeping exercise in the institution; it would be a facilitative and participative organ of the institution. The QEC should become a driving force for ushering in quality by working out intervention strategies to remove deficiencies and enhance quality.
At University of Lahore, The Quality Enhancement Cell was established in May 2010. Since then, the cell has been working effectively not only to enhance quality but also continuously improve on it. Vision and Mission

Research centre of UOL
During the last three decades the discipline of molecular and cellular biology has expanded phenomenally in scope and in depth. New knowledge in the field, mainly acquired through a multidisciplinary approach and experimental research, has made it possible not only to
unravel living processes in health and disease from molecular to organismal level but also to introduce novel and more effective therapeutic and diagnostic tools in medical practice.
In line with the policy of the University of Lahore to develop high quality expertise and manpower in emerging areas of biomedical sciences, a Centre for Research in Molecular Medicine was initiated in April 2009. The Centre represents a major investment and a bold initiative by the University in the field of life sciences and human health. A covered area of approximately 9,000 sq feet was allocated to the Centre at the University’s new campus adjacent to the University College of Medicine, to develop purpose-built teaching and research laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities. The Centre draws resources from other academic units of the University as well, such as the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Department of Pharmacy, the University College of Medicine and the Department of Information Technology. The Centre also has close collaboration in relevant areas with other reputable institutions within and outside the country. Research centre of UOL
